Aug 5, 2016

Students of SJEC as a part of SAEINDIA SJEC Collegiate Club participated in SAE Virtual Baja 2016, a National Level Competition which is also a pre-qualifier for the renowned BAJA SAEINDIA Event. In SAE Virtual Baja, teams representing different Colleges in and around the country take part to present the design of their ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) virtually and compete for their design to get manufactured by a fictitious firm. This design should meet the expectations of SAE, i.e. to design and manufacture a car which is reliable, safe, ergonomic, and maintainable, and if manufactured, would achieve the economies of scale.

The event was held in Indore – MP on 23rd July, 2016. Mr Dilish Joy Lobo, Mr Roger Michael Pereira, Mr Vikas, Mr Glen Loyal Pinto, Mr Devaiah M.S, and Mr Brison Suhail Pinto, Final Year students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, represented the 28-member strong SAEINDIA SJEC Collegiate Club. The results of the competition were released recently and the SJEC team has secured 1strank in South India and 18th rank overall in India. With this, the team has qualified for BAJA SAEINDIA event and has begun the process of fabricating the team’s unique design. The knowledge gained during the design process and the hands-on experience in the fabrication of the car would enable the students to be industry ready and employable with strong entrepreneurial skills.

Dr Sudheer M, HOD – ME, Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, Principal – SJEC, and Rev.Fr Joseph Lobo, Director – SJEC expressed their happiness and congratulated the SAEINDIA SJEC Collegiate Club members and Faculty Representatives, Mr Yathish K and Mr Vijay V.S., for this wonderful achievement.
