Mechanical Engineering

A versatile department encompasses learning the application of physical principles of heat, force, conservation of mass and energy, designs of mechinisms and machine elements, system design, human engineering, manufacturing-maintenance of industrial machinery etc.

Thrust is laid on teaching CAD/CAM tools, to keep abreast with modern techniques of design and analysis. The department is poised to start M.Tech program.

The department is running Undergraduate course (B.E.) in Mechanical Engineering, Post Graduate course in Computational Analysis in Mechanical Sciences (CAMS), Master of Science program by research and Doctoral degree programs.

About Teaching Staff:

The department is having a dedicated and qualified team of faculty, technical and supporting staff. The department has five Professors (Including Principal), two Associate Professors, five Assistant Professors, six Senior Lecturers and sixteen Lecturers. The faculty- student ratio in the department is less than 1:15. The department has the advantage of having ten faculty members with a teaching experience of more than 20 years. Among the faculty members, five are with Doctoral degree; twenty two are with master’s degree. Four faculty members are pursuing the doctoral degree. The students will be undergoing the practical training with the help of eleven qualified and experienced technical staff members

There are 12 superb laboratories to give hands-on experience to students for extensive expertise. They are:
Energy Conversion Heat Transfer Fluid Mechanics Metallography and Material Meteorology and Measurements Design CAD with advanced modelling and anaylsis software Computer Aided Manufacturing Smithy and Foundry Fitting and Workshop Computer Aided Engineering Drawing Machine Shop
Facilities:
University approved Research Center with eight candidates pursuing M. Sc. (Engg) by research and Ph.D. Facilities for conducting quality project works and Inter-Disciplinary Projects. Seminars and Guest Lectures (at least four per semester) in the relevant areas. Additional software training in the evenings and semester holidays. Industrial Visits (at least one per year). Industrial training during semester holidays. Hands on training through workshops and special practical sessions. Extra Curricular Activities such as Inter College Quiz competition(annual), Poster/Model Exhibition (Every semester), Tech Fest(annual)
