Information Science and Engineering

The Department of INFORMATION SCIENCE & ENGINEERING was established in the year 2007 with the objective of producing high-quality professionals to meet the demands of the emerging field of Information Technology. The department aims at imparting quality education with special emphasis for the all-round development of the students. The department has an intake of 60 students. It is approved by the AICTE, Ministry of HRD, Government of India and is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum, Karnataka. The Department offers a combination of courses and projects that helps the students to cope up with the recent advancement in the IT industry.

MISSION: Delivering the curricula to enhance and encourage student learning and research methodologies to meet the global changing needs of the IT industry. Promoting all-round personality development of the students through industry-academic interaction programs.

The Department has well qualified, experienced and dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff. There are nine postgraduates and six undergraduates working as teaching staff in the department. One faculty member is pursuing his Ph.D and one faculty is pursuing part time M.Tech. Highly qualified teaching community with a strong motto of teaching -learning processes are the main assets of the department in guiding the students towards their strive to success.

The teaching faculties of the department are well motivated and are passionate about their role as a mentor/guide in understanding the students needs/problems related to academic/personal aspects. They are able to provide useful guidance to students as a measure to overcome their problems. The faculty members are frequently attending workshops and seminars conducted by various organizations to enhance their knowledge as well as a means for their research related activities. They are encouraging and motivating the students of the department to pursue higher education and research related activities.

The department is well sophisticated with three spacious class rooms, seven well equipped laboratories and a department library which meets all the needs of the students as per the requirements of Visvesvaraya Technological University. The department laboratory has ample workstation on the network with the Windows and Linux platform. The department is having IBM server and other supporting servers to cater to the needs of network resources and management.

The ISE Department Student association “INTAGLIO” mainly aims at making the students interact with industries and institutions as well as training them to meet their standards through seminars, workshops, and guest lectures from eminent personalities. Our venture is to have unique and innovative programs which will highlight the talent in the Information Science department.

The students of the department are trained to the needs of the IT industry through the Campus-Connect program of the Infosys Technologies Ltd. The faculty members are conducting bridge course programs for Java & J2EE, C#. Net programming by the way of laboratory sessions to provide practical exposure to the theoretical subjects. The project work of the students are framed to cater to the needs of the industry through different phases of evaluation procedures. Workshops and training on soft skills are arranged for the students involving extensive use of interactive and practical sessions to develop their skills and build up confidence thereby enhancing their placement opportunities.
