Joshiana 2.0 Beta Conducted by the MCA Dept
“The Technocrats” - Computer Applications Association of SJEC conducted Joshiana 2.0 Beta, a 2 days National Level IT Fest for the students of MCA, MS and BE (CS & IS). It was organized under the aegis of the Department of Computer Applications. The fest was held on Friday, 14 Oct 2011 and Saturday, 15 Oct 2011, with great success.



Joshiana 2.0 Beta was inaugurated by Mr. Sachin Bhakta, Senior VP Operation, Global E SoftSys Pvt. Ltd., Mangalore, who was the Chief Guest at the Inaugural Function, by lighting the lamp. The dignitaries present on the dais were Rev. Fr. Valerian D’Souza – Director SJEC, who presided over the ceremony, Rev. Fr. Henry Mascarehas – Assistant Director SJEC, Dr. Joseph Gonsalvis – Principal SJEC, Dr. Rio D’Souza – Dean Academics/MCA, Mr. Sathyendra Bhat J – Staff Coordinator (The Technocrats), Mr. Sudheer Kumar – President (The Technocrats) and Mr. Sumeet Gupta – Secretary (The Technocrats).





The function began by the invocation of the Divine by Ms. Nagashree – II MCA and party. The welcome speech was given by Ms. Shreesthuthi Shetty – II MCA, who welcomed the gathering with warm wishes to all and dignitaries were then felicitated by the staff. Mr. Sudheer Kumar, President of The Technocrats, briefed the gathering of the events that would be held over the 2 days. This was followed by the Lighting of the Lamp which officially declared Joshiana 2.0 Beta and the unveiling of the trophies for which the participants were competing against each other.



The Chief Guest, Mr. Sachin Bhakta addressed the gathering wherein he voiced his appreciation for the organizers. He mentioned that students should use this opportunity as a platform to exchange ideas and knowledge. He also mentioned that academics alone is not an entry ticket to get a job in any organization. He then appreciated the event managers who made the hosting of the various events possible with their innovative approach. The other dignitaries advised the gathering and in general stressed upon the fact that the youth of today have to think outside the box in order to make changes and developments possible as the future of the nation lies in their hands.



The curtains were drawn on the Inauguration Ceremony with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Sumeet Gupta, Secretary of The Technocrats, thereby declaring the fest open to all. The MC’s role for the inauguration was donned by Ms. Malavika Kulal – III MCA.



The events were conducted by the MCA students over 2 days and the judges were invited from in and out of the college. All in all 16 teams registered for Joshiana 2.0 and we had 130 participants visiting our college and being a part of the fest.



The fest comprised of 12 events namely - Ice Breaker, Coding, Treasure Hunt, Image and Video Editing, IT Quiz, JAM, Gaming (NFS & CS), Paper Presentation, Mad Ads, Web Designing, Culturals and Best Manager.



Joshiana 2.0 Beta came to an end with Valedictory Function and the Chief Guest for the ceremony was Mr. Unni Koroth – CEO, Foradian Technologies, Mangalore . The other dignitaries present on the dais were Rev. Fr. Valerian D’Souza - Director SJEC who presided over the ceremony, Rev. Fr. Joseph Lobo – Director Designate SJEC, Dr. Rio D’Souza – Dean Academics/MCA, Mr. Sathyendra Bhat J – Staff Coordinator (The Technocrats), Mr. Sudheer Kumar – President (The Technocrats) and Mr. Sumeet Gupta – Secretary (The Technocrats).



Bijoor – II MCA, who welcomed the gathering with warm wishes to all and dignitaries were then felicitated by the staff. Mr. Linton Donson Pinto, III MCA, read out a brief report on the proceedings over the two days which was followed by the feedback from participants of various colleges. The Chief Guest, Mr. Unni Koroth, addressed the gathering in a spirited way symbolizing the josh of Joshiana. He appreciated the various event managers who had worked day in and day out for the success of the fest. He also stressed on the aspects of hard work and team work which is essential in an IT aspirant. The other dignitaries on the dais also congratulated the Department of Computer Applications on conducting such a wonderful fest. The Chief Guest and the President of the function handed over the participation certificates and the trophies of individual events.





Finally came the big moment of announcing the Overall Runners Up and the Overall Champions of the fest which was done by Mr. Shane Steve Pereira – II MCA. The Runners-Up trophy went to MCA team of AIMIT, Mangalore and the Overall Champions Trophy was bagged by MSc team of AIMIT, Mangalore. The trophies were handed over by all the dignitaries present during the Valedictory Function. The curtains were drawn on the Valedictory Ceremony with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Selma Dias - II MCA, thereby officially closing the fest. The MC’s role for the valedictory was donned by Ms. Rekha Rao – II MCA.
