St Joseph Engineering College is a Religious Minority Institution and admissions are governed as per religious minority institution status, as stated/declared by Government of Karnataka.

Selection is based on the merit of the candidate in the qualifying examination and Entrance test marks. Selection and admission will be provisional and is subject to the norms prescribed by A.I.C.T.E, V.T.U. and Government of Karnataka.

The candidates who meet the qualification are required to appear for entrance test and interview to be conducted at St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor Mangalore or any other place specified by the college, the exact date of which will be intimated.

The candidates shall bear all the expenses in connection with the selection interview.

The candidate shall have passed the second year Pre University or XII standard or equivalent examinations held preceding the date of entrance test with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science, Biology, Electronics and shall have secured not less than Forty Five (45%) percent of the aggregate marks in optional subjects, with English as one of the languages, for admission to Engineering & Technology Courses.

Provided further that the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility shall be Forty percent (40%) of aggregate in optional subjects in case of candidates belonging to the **Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes specified in the relevant Government order for the purpose of reservation in respect of Engineering and Technology Courses.

**Note: The relaxation in academic eligibility is extended only to Karnataka candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes.

CET or KRLMPCA score is needed for seats coming under government or minority quota. A small number of seats are reserved under NRI quota.

Candidates who have passed a three year Diploma in Engineering with minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST) in the final year are eligible for lateral entry. As part of their course, such candidates will have to study additional subjects as prescribed by the University.

All the Karnataka Christian Students who wish to take admission at St Joseph Engineering College are required to appear for this year’s KRLMPCA examination. Christian Students will be give preference while counseling, as it enjoys Christian Minority status in the state of Karnataka.

NRI students who wish to get admission through management quota are required to appear for either of the entrance exam CET/KRLMPCA as declared by the Government of Karnataka (DTE).

Management Quota: Seats are based on the percentage scored in the graduation course and the percentile obtained in the KMAT /CMAT entrance test.

Master of Computer Applications(MCA)

Admission to I year /I Semester MCA:Passed BCA/ Bachelor Degree in Computer Science and Engineering or equivalent Degree.

OR

Passed B.Sc./ B.Com./ B.A. with Mathematics at 10+2 Level or at Graduation Level (with additional bridge Courses as per the norms of the concerned University).

For admissions under PGCET qualification and Roaster system of Government of Karnataka: There shall be an Entrance Examination (PGCET) for admission to the MCA programme. A candidate seeking admission to MCA Programme offered in any of the Engineering Colleges affiliated to VTU shall appear for this Examination. For admission under Government quota, ranks obtained in PGCET entrance exam, conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), shall be considered.

For admissions under Management Quota: The candidates should have appeared for the Entrance Examination conducted by KEA (PGCET)/Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (KMAT) or appeared and qualified under any approved entrance examination conducted by the authority recognized by Government of Karnataka/VTU /any other University of Karnataka state. Further, there shall be an Admissions Committee for the MCA Program consisting of the Principal of the College as the Chairman, Head of the concerned Department and one senior staff member of the concerned Department. The Admissions Committee conducts the interview and selects the candidates for admission.

The Applications are invited from the candidates to fill the 50% seats which are reserved under Management Quota. the candidate must fulfill the eligibility criteria and should appear for any of the entrance examinations namely KMAT or PGCET.

Admission - M.Sc by Research

The candidate who have passed B.E / B.Tech Examination of VTU or any other university with minimum of 60% or equivalent Grade. However, a relaxation to the extent of 10% shall be allowed to SC/ST or any other category as notified by the Government of Karnataka from time to time.

OR

Teaching / Research Staff / Teaching Assistants working in any Engineering college or Polytechnic Institutions recognized by AICTE either in the State of Karnataka or outside, who have passed B.E / B.Tech Examination with minimum of One Year Teaching Experience.

OR

Employees of the State Government / Central Government / Quasi Government Organizations / Public Sector Industries / Reputed Private Industries / Awardees of research fellowship by nationally recognized bodies like CSIR etc., who have passed B.E / B.Tech Examination with minimum of One Year working experience.

A candidate satisfying the above criteria can meet the concerned Heads of the departments for further information.

In addition to the above, the candidate shall be qualified in GATE or in the University Level Research Aptitude test, the result of which is valid for a period of Three years.

Admission - The Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate shall possess a Master Degree in Engineering/ Technology / Management/ Science of VTU or any other University with minimum of 60% or equivalent Grade at Master’s Degree examinations. However, a relaxation to the extent of 10% shall be allowed to SC/ST or any other category as notified by the Government of Karnataka from time to time OR candidate with a minimum of five years experience in teaching or research, subject to the approval of VTU.

A candidate satisfying the above criteria can meet the concerned Heads of the Departments for further information.

In addition to the above, the candidate shall be qualified in the University Level Research Aptitude test, the result of which is valid for a period two years.
